We Are St. Pete

Exterior mural, acrylic on stucco

Sara Salem's whimsical pelican — St. Petersburg's official bird — wearing sunglasses that reflect the waterfront, wings spread across the full width of the wall beside a spiralling orange sun and the words WE ARE ST. PETE. Painted for the Shine Mural Festival as LMCU's Community Mural Project, sponsored by the St. Pete Arts Alliance. Salem, an art teacher, yoga instructor and muralist, worked from a boom lift high above the lot, and local residents were invited to help paint the wall.
